Advanced Quotes: Joe Biden on Larry King Live
BIDEN: I think we are and you know, you asked me earlier if I am worried about the exceedingly high expectations that people have for President Barack Obama and I said domestically I wasn’t so worried about that but internationally I am. I have been contacted by so many world leaders. Their expectation for Barack’s presidency is overwhelming[ly]. They are so hungry to have an American leader who they think has a policy that reflects our stated values as well as one they can talk to.
---
Vice President-elect Biden on embattled Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich
BIDEN: I know in our system you are innocent until proven guilty but those tapes that were released by the special prosecutor, excuse me, by the U.S. attorney seem incredibly, incredibly incriminating. It’s a decision for the people of Illinois to make the legislature of Illinois to make but from where I sit he looks like a guy who is not capable of governing.
---
Vice President-elect Biden on President George W. Bush
BIDEN: It’s presumptuous to feel sorry for another man. But I feel somewhat – I feel somewhat badly for him. I think the incident in Iraq was – was unfortunate, that guy throwing the shoes. It was just – it was just uncalled for and was – I think that President Bush and, unlike Vice President Cheney, is, upon reflection beginning to acknowledge some of the serious, if not mistakes, misjudgments that he made.

CNN Reorganizes D.C. Assignments as New Administration, Congress Approach
“During the election, CNN’s political reporters established themselves as the class of television news, both cable and broadcast,” said David Bohrman, CNN’s senior vice president and D.C. bureau chief. “Now we’re positioning them in key roles that will ensure the most thorough and informative coverage as President Obama and Congress tackle the thorniest problems America has faced in our lifetimes.”
The changes come on the heels of the announcement that CNN’s lead political anchor Wolf Blitzer will remain with the network through the next presidential election cycle and chief national correspondent John King will anchor a four-hour programming block on Sundays starting in January.
The noteworthy changes include:
· Ed Henry, who has provided comprehensive coverage of the Obama transition, becomes senior White House correspondent after coveringthe past two years of the George W. Bush White House and spending two years as CNN’s congressional correspondent. Suzanne Malveaux, who distinguished herself with exceptional coverage of the Obama presidential campaign and reported a two-hour documentary on the president-elect, returns to the White House. She will also serve as a primary substitute anchor for The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer.Boston bureau chief and correspondent Dan Lothian, who reported extensively from the campaign trail in both 2004 and 2008, will become a White House correspondent as well.
· Dana Bash, who broke numerous exclusives while covering the Republican primaries and the McCain campaign, is named senior congressional correspondent. Bash has covered Congress for nearly a decade and was honored with the prestigious Dirksen Award in 2002. She will be joined on Capitol Hill by Brianna Keilar, who has served as a general assignment correspondent for the network for nearly three years and covered Capitol Hill and the White House during the election campaign.
· Jessica Yellin, one of the standouts of CNN’s presidential campaign coverage, becomes national political correspondent. In addition to The Situation Room, Campbell Brown: No Bias, No Bull and John King’s Sunday block, Yellin will file daily reports for CNN’s prime-time programming analyzing the most important stories on politics, policy and culture.
· Jill Dougherty is named foreign affairs correspondent. Dougherty, who covered the Clinton White House for CNN and then served as Moscow bureau chief and correspondent and managing editor for Asia/Pacific based in Hong Kong, will track Secretary of State nominee Hillary Clinton’s stewardship of American foreign policy.
· Correspondent Chris Lawrence, a veteran of the Navy Reserve who has spent four years as a general assignment correspondent in CNN’s Chicago and Los Angeles bureaus, becomes a Pentagon correspondent.

New CNN Health Website
Dr. Gupta blogs about this new website:
For over a year now, we at CNN have been busy working on a new Web site.
Dozens of people came together to try and figure out what our Web users really
wanted. You probably know CNN.com is already one of the most visited news sites
in the world, and when it came to health, we knew we had to deliver something
special. It had to be a place where you could not only get the latest news in
the world of health, but also the knowledge that could improve your life every
single day. It had to be a place where you could feel confident in the
information you were getting, but also offered a way to communicate directly
with experts, who are the very best at what they do. It had to rise above the
clutter that has become a characteristic of so many health sites and it also had
to appeal to your brain… and to your heart. It had to become an essential
part of your life.

Wolf Blitzer Re-ups; John King Takes Helm of New Four-Hour Sunday Program
Blitzer, who led CNN’s election coverage, has extended his contract as CNN’s lead political anchor and will continue to anchor the 15 hours of The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer, which airs weekdays from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. (ET). Throughout November, The Situation Room was the No. 1-rated weekday news program in all three hours among the key demo.
Following his break-out reporting during the election season, King will take the helm of a new Sunday four-hour news block from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. (ET), debuting in January. The program will offer a unique blend of newsmaker interviews, political analysis, national and world affairs, cultural segments, media analysis and commentary.
“Wolf will continue redefining political coverage on television, as he’s done so successfully during this election. Wolf has driven CNN’s election coverage to No. 1 on primary and election nights and he has built The Situation Room into a dominant weekday program,” said Jon Klein, president of CNN/U.S. “We are reinventing Sunday mornings around the best political reporter of his generation, John King. He has stood out throughout the election as the single best connected, most knowledgeable source of what’s going on and why, and this new program is an opportunity to showcase those strengths throughout the entire year.”
The first hour of the new program will focus heavily on politics and the new administration, while the later hours will delve into national and world affairs and commentary on current events. The four-hour programming block will also include Reliable Sources, hosted by Howard Kurtz, which will continue as an hour-long examination into the intersection of the national media, politics, and the hottest topics in news.
In addition to utilizing CNN’s unparalleled, worldwide newsgathering resources, King will integrate extensive reporting from the field nationally and globally. King will also incorporate innovative “Magic Wall” technology, which was instrumental during coverage of the 2008 election, to visually enhance reporting and story-telling. The program also will offer up thoughtful conversation with regional experts, pundits and CNN analysts and contributors.
As CNN’s lead anchor for the network’s political coverage, Blitzer has moderated several of CNN’s presidential primary debates and anchored coverage of the key primary and caucus nights as well as Election Night 2008. Since joining CNN in 1990, he has interviewed some of recent history's most notable figures including President George W. Bush, Vice President Dick Cheney, and former presidents Bill Clinton, George H.W. Bush, Ronald Reagan, Jimmy Carter and Gerald Ford. Blitzer has also interviewed many foreign heads of state—former Soviet President Mikhail Gorbachev, former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, former South African President Nelson Mandela, among them—from locations around the world.
King, who joined the network in 1997 after a 12-year career at the Associated Press, will continue to hold the title of chief national correspondent in addition to his new role as anchor. He was an integral part of CNN’s innovative “America Votes 2008” coverage of the presidential campaign, traveling to important early election states to cover and interview major candidates, breaking news about campaign developments and pioneering the use of the CNN “Magic Wall.” During his time at CNN, he also served as the network’s senior White House correspondent. The 2008 campaign marked the sixth presidential election King has covered. In addition, he has reported extensively across the United States and the world, including the first Gulf War, the war in Iraq and the Southeast Asia tsunami.

FASHION’S FIRST LADY DONATELLA VERSACE IN BEIJING ON CNN’S TALK ASIA
Donatella Versace draws from many inspirations. She dedicated her Spring/Summer 2009 collection to President-elect Barack Obama “for his mind more than his person” and for her ‘first’ fashion show in China she was motivated to do the show in aid of the earthquake victims in Sichuan because of what she saw: “I was very very touched by what I saw…”
On expanding her business in China and the market there, she is aware that it is different from any other country she’s been in. She says: “Chinese people view fashion in a different way from other people. They want the real thingThey want the real picture.” The brand’s commitment to the market there is something she’s proud of: “Versace was one of the first brands, if not the first brand to open a shop in China. It was in 1979, so nobody else was here. Versace was the first brand, Italian brand to open in China.”
Donatella Versace sees fashion as constantly evolving and since her brother Gianni’s days when everything was ‘louder’ and ‘sexy’ and ‘revealing’ she took the company in a direction she calls her own: “glamour, femininity and sensuality in a more sophisticated way, in a more toned down way, but still sexy.” She reminisces about times when Versace was credited with inventing the supermodel concept and bringing fashion to life on the runway.
On her brother Gianni, she talks about the dynamic between them and how much love they had for one another. Born into a tight Italian family Donatella Versace said: “when Gianni became a big fashion star I was the only one who told him the truth.” His passing threw her and her family into immense grief: “It was very very hard for me, for my family, for my children. For everybody because Gianni was more than a brother.
