CNN Press Release - Beginning Monday, January 17, CNN/US will add two more hours of live programming to its weekday lineup. CNN will now broadcast live from 4 a.m. through 11 p.m. each weekday. (ALL TIMES EASTERN).

At 4a, CNN will air World Business Today, hosted by Charles Hodson and Andrew Stevens from London and Hong Kong. At 5 a.m., CNN will broadcast World One, hosted by Zain Verjee and Monita Rajpal from London, which is a general news program covering both international and domestic top stories. Both programs are simulcasts with CNN International and will air live around the world in more than 200 countries. CNN’s American Morning begins a 6a.m. (ET).

CNN International has advised CNN Observations of their new weekday schedule for the week commencing January 17 - Piers Morgan Tonight's launch week.

As previously noted, Piers Morgan Tonight will air 3 times a day across CNN International. The first airing is a simulcast with CNN Domestic at 0200 GMT (2100 eastern). The program will also air in the Asian and European primetime at 1200 GMT (2000 Hong Kong) and 2000 GMT.

With the addition of Piers Morgan Tonight, the delayed broadcast of The Situation Room has been dropped from the weekday schedule - although the "best of" The Situation Room is still scheduled for its usual weekend airing. World One, which airs weeknights at 2000 GMT, will move to 1000 GMT.

The i-List will highlight innovation and influence in industry, business, technology, culture and more. It showcases a nation’s people and places – those having an impact inside and outside their borders.

From 8th February, CNN International turns its cameras on France in i-List: France, a special week of prime time programming and reports from the country that will uncover some of the economic, social, cultural and political developments currently shaping France and positioning the nation for the future. Throughout 2010, i-List is set to come from a number of Asian countries.

CNN will anchor two of its signature European prime time shows from France. Hala Gorani will be in Paris with ‘I-Desk’ and Fionnuala Sweeney in Lyon with ‘World One’. As well there will be a series of specially commissioned reports by correspondents Jim Bittermann and Atika Schubert.

CNN’s Paris-based Senior Correspondent Jim Bittermann – recently awarded the Legion of Honour for his 30 years of distinguished reporting on France – examines how France is leveraging long established ties with China and India through the entrepreneurial spirit of business leaders such as the legendary Pierre Cardin, former French Prime Minister and Senator Pierre Rafferin and inspirational Club Med chairman Henri Giscard d’Estaing.

Atika Shubert begins our week at the Lyon Library which has joined up with Google Books to post 500,000 ancient manuscripts online. French officials fear that the scanning project by Google will put the country's national literary treasures in the control of corporate hands. Lyon's Library Director shows CNN the rare document he believes need to be scanned by Google.
Atika Shubert then travels to Marseilles – the nation’s third largest city, a standard bearer for cultural integration and set to be Europe’s Capital of Culture in 2013. Two Islamic leaders give viewers an insight into the “Muslim Marseilles” in a report that highlights how immigration and integration in the city can set an example, not just for other French cities, but for cities beyond its borders.

The high energy rappers Fonky Family offer an intriguing insight into what the accolade “Capital of Culture” could mean for the future of this historical port city in 2013 and a day spent with the superstars of the Olympic Marseilles explains what makes this Mediterranean city so special for football fans around France.

The special week of coverage will culminate with a 30 minute debate hosted by CNN’s Hala Gorani with a panel of French personalities including Areva CEO Anne Lauvergeon.

One of the final stages of CNN International's long-running revamp kicked off early Monday with the unveiling of its freshly rebranded news shows, "World Business Today" and "World Report", which replaces the network's legacy programs, "CNN Today", "Your World Today" and "World News".

Along with a new network logo and positioning statement, the new look shows were rolled out just hours ahead of the debut of CNN International's flagship program, "Amanpour", and the launch of a new weeknight news bulletin, "World One".

Monday will bring forth a number of changes to CNN International and it's lineup of shows. CNN Today, World News, World News Asia, and Your World Today will all become World Report. Guillermo Arduino's weekly World Report show will become World View.

European primetime programming will have two new shows added to its lineup, World One, hosted by Fionnuala Sweeney, and Amanpour hosted by Chief International Correspondent Christiane Amanpour.

The network will also sport a new logo, which can be seen in an Amanpour promo here.

World One

'World One', hosted by Fionnuala Sweeney, is a fast-paced international news bulletin, designed to keep viewers across the day's major stories. 'World One' delivers everything you need to know about the world's biggest stories in a punchy half-hour format. The programme will showcase the network's best news reports and deliver the latest news headlines from across the globe. Every day, 'World One' will showcase a special segment that brings you closer to one part of the world and 'In Focus' will be a deeper look at an international news story. With Fionnuala's expertise and extensive knowledge of international affairs, 'World One' is designed to become appointment viewing for anyone who wants to keep on top of the news.

Amanpour

On 21st September (22nd in the Asia Pacific region), CNN International launches its centrepiece, the highly-anticipated 'Amanpour' programme. This interview programme, hosted by the internationally renowned and multi-award-winning journalist Christiane Amanpour, will aim to set the agenda for a new global conversation. Each half-hour show will focus on a single topic; often news-driven, often provocative, bringing to bear Christiane's vast journalistic experience and depth of knowledge honed from a quarter of a century reporting from around the world, alongside some of the major influencers and newsmakers of the day.
