CNN.com’s Live, On-Demand Video Goes Free on July 1

CNN Pressroom - Content Available on Subscription-based CNN Pipeline Moving to Free Service on CNN.com

CNN.com this summer will unveil significant enhancements, creating a fully integrated online news experience. As part of the site’s redesign, the live, streaming and archived video content accessible through the subscription-based CNN Pipeline service since December 2005 will be available for free at CNN.com starting on Sunday, July 1.

The goal of CNN.com’s latest evolution is to make it easier for online consumers to get more news in more ways than ever before. After nearly 18 months of offering CNN Pipeline through subscription, CNN.com will begin offering users free of charge even more of the great video they expect – live and on-demand. As with the current CNN Pipeline service, CNN.com will provide access to its video archives and up to four streams of live content but without the need to download a video player.

As the first Internet site dedicated to 24-hour news coverage, CNN.com attracts an average of more than 24 million unique users each month. Launched in 1995, CNN.com draws from the resources of CNN Worldwide to provide relevant, up-to-the minute news and information. CNN.com features the latest multimedia technologies, from video streaming and user-generated content to audio packages and searchable archives of news features and background information.

Nicole Lapin

CNN.com updated Nicole Lapin's bio photo recently.

Also, to coincide with Nicole's new Pipeline series Young People Who Rock, CNN.com has launched a new blog to feature these stories. It also features a new photo of one of CNN's most popular new anchors.

Richard Lui on Robin and Company

Looks like CNN Pipeline's Richard Lui hasn't been on Robin & Company this week so he may be done with the show, or if his "TV Time" in his contract is up... who knows. I'll keep you updated if I hear anything.

Two people have been shot inside CNN Center. A male suspect has been detained, and the two victims have been taken to the hospital. The shooting took place right outside the CNN.com newsroom, where CNN Pipeline is broadcast from. CNN Pipeline covered the story extensively on three of four pipes.Tannoy announcements were heard over the air. CNN International continued broadcasting as normal. More details here.

Richard Lui on Robin & Company?

This morning, CNN Pipeline's Richard Lui is on Robin and Company just giving the "Top Stories" they are following at the quarter of every hour. I wonder if this is a permanent thing with Richard or if the other Pipeline anchors will rotate out here daily?

Also, I think Rally Capparas is gone from Robin & Company, as Meterologist Bob Van Dillen has been providing airport delays for the last week and continues today. He could be out sick or on an extended vacation at his company, but who knows.

We'll keep you updated on both issues as we receive more information.
