Egypt Coverage Drives Traffic To CNN Online
CNN Press Release: As CNN expanded coverage of the crisis in Egypt last Friday, global video usage on CNN.com increased dramatically.
* For the seven days ending Thursday, February 3, total global video views on CNN.com increased by more than 61% over the prior 4-week average.
* On Wednesday alone usage spiked 97% over the prior 4-Wednesday average to 6.3 million video views.
Live video also increased dramatically on CNN.com since the violence and protests erupted in Egypt.
* With an average of more than 320,000 daily video starts since last Friday, total global live video usage on CNN.com increased by 500% over the prior 4-week, same-day average.
* On Wednesday, February 2, live video usage spiked to 600,000 live views, a 540% gain over the prior 4-week average.
CNN iReport: For the seven days ending Thursday, February 3, total submissions to iReport on CNN.com increased to more than 4,000, a 62% increase versus the prior 4-week average. Submissions related to the crisis in Egypt accounted for 24% of the total for the week. Page views on iReport also increased to 2.5 million for the seven days ending Feb. 3, a 26% increase over usual levels.
