International Observations

Zain Verjee is moving to CNN International to host CNN Today. Will her morning co-host have anything to do with the Sports Anchor/Reporter position they are advertising for? :)

Maybe we're late to the party, but we just noticed that The Spirit Of... has been cancelled. This may have to do with Becky Anderson's new show Connect The World that is on the schedule to premiere Monday, April 20 after International Desk. Here is a description of what you will see on the program:

Connect the World will join the dots of stories and events by exploring how an event or circumstance in one part of the world can have significant impact and reach elsewhere.

It's the connections - or links - that matter.

During this hour, CNN will spin the globe around each story; diving into its past, looking to its future, and highlighting the people, places and problems that inform it. Consider the recent attacks in Mumbai: In this case Connects would explore the ramifications felt in Pakistan, Israel and the UK, the intervention and condemnation of the world's political community, the history of unrest within India, and the long-term global consequences of the attack. Guided by our Field Intelligence, Connects will journey into the multidimensional character of global events.

Field Intelligence:

- Content commissioned from the best of CNN's International Newsgathering.

- Sharp analysis from the Connections Crew, a cast of regular contributors who are experts in their fields, whether it be finance, geopolitics, specific regions or otherwise.

- Compelling interviews.

- Dynamic films, cyber dialogue and cutting edge graphics.

Presented from London and sometimes from the road, Connect the World takes viewers on a sweeping journey across continents, beyond headlines, and into the histories, possibilities, and depths of the stories that are changing our world today. Connect the World is intelligent viewing for the internationalist in an interdependent world.

How do we know it will be after I-Desk? Isn't this time slot reserved for Amanpour's new show?

Christiane's show premieres in September. The schedule may change by then. As of CNN Asia Pacific is promoting this show as being in the time slot after International Desk. Of course, this could change by the time the show even launches. Stay tuned! :)

Dustin -- Is Zain moving to CNNI full time? Is she leaving the Situation Room? Who is she replacing?

Yes, she is moving to CNN International. I cannot say who she is replacing or who she is being paired up with, but it will be announced soon! :)

Um, do you even read what you post?

You've already said she's going to CNN Today and the sports job being advertized is probably for Don who is moving to a news role.

Therefore, replacing Monita on CNN Today and hosting with Don.

This place has gone down so fast! Joining the ranks of TVNewser.

At the time, I had no idea who she was being paired up with, so it was pure speculation on my part. She could've been paired up with Max or Monita for all I knew at the time. Stay tuned!

I was hoping she would have an expanded
role on CNN in America.
