Erica Hill Joins CNN’s Anderson Cooper 360°

CNN Pressroom - Erica Hill is joining CNN/U.S. as an anchor and as a correspondent to Anderson Cooper 360°, it was announced today by David Doss, executive producer of Anderson Cooper 360°.

Hill has served as an anchor at Headline News since January 2003, most recently for Prime News with Erica Hill. In addition, she provided news updates for Anderson Cooper 360° since April 2005. She joins Anderson Cooper 360° full-time on Friday, Feb. 1, and will be based in New York.

“We’re delighted Erica is joining us full time,” Doss said. “She’s an exceptional journalist, a terrific broadcaster and a great addition to the AC360 team.”

As an Anderson Cooper 360° correspondent, Hill’s role expands to include reporting and sub-anchoring from the field. She joins a team of contributors that includes Tom Foreman, Joe Johns, Randi Kaye, David Mattingly and Gary Tuchman.

Among other stories, Hill reported from Mississippi as part of CNN's coverage of Hurricane Katrina. She also anchored coverage of the war in Iraq, including the discovery of American contractor Thomas Hamill after he escaped his captors there and the Northeast U.S. blackout in 2003. She has also served as a national correspondent for CNN Newsource in the Washington, D.C., bureau.

Hill joined the network from Tech TV in San Francisco, where she was co-anchor and correspondent for Tech Live, a 30-minute daily news magazine. Hill was on the air live when the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks began and anchored throughout the day and as events continued to unfold. Additionally, Hill was a reporter for Tech TV News where she covered a wide variety of technology stories. She also anchored and co-produced specials on a number of topics including the debate surrounding embryonic stem cell research, the technology behind the 2002 Winter Olympics and the 2001 Oscars.

Hill earned her bachelor’s degree in journalism, graduating summa cum laude from Boston University.

Good.It is great that they will be in the same
studio. I get the feeling there is some
construction going on with the 360 set.
Anderson has been sitting behind the
desk a lot lately.
