Encuentro con Isabel Allende
October 2nd at 7PM
4 Replays October 2 – October 15
Isabel Allende is considered today the best known and most prolific female writer in Latin America. To read her works is to enter a universe of history and fiction, where her personal life and her family serve as the foundations to exceptional research on issues ranging from migration and the conquest of Chile, dictatorships, human trafficking, sexuality and above all, the innermost complexity of the human soul. This documentary, inspired by her most recent book, EL CUADERNO DE MAYA, will explore the childhood and youth of Isabel Allende, marked by a dictatorship and exile; her life as a mother, deeply affected by the death of her daughter Paula; her heart, which led her to become another immigrant to the United States where she almost became an illegal alien, and the world that she built in her own house of the spirits in San Francisco
