On 1 March 2007, CNN launched it's new browsable mobile/cellphone service CNN Mobile. By typing cnnmobile.com into your cellphone's internet broswer, you can now use a cellphone-friendly news service modelled on CNN.com.
Graphics are kept to a minimum, although the full text of stories appears to be intact.
There are four regional versions of CNN Mobile - Europe/Middle East/Africa, Latin America, Asia-Pacific/South Asia and North America. Most mobile services should automatically take you to your relevant region.
From cnnmobile.com on your cellphone, you can also watch the hourly World News Now updates, search a 14-day news archive and read the new CNN In the Field blog.
The service is only available on cellphones. If you go to www.cnnmobile.com on the conventional internet, you will be taken to a website with information about the service, plus details on how to access it. There is also a demo of the service on the website.
I've tried it on my own cellphone here in England, and so far I'm very impressed with it. It's a much more comprehensive service that the software-based mobile service CNN has offered for a number of years.
I plan to do a full review of the service over the weekend. Keep checking CNN Observations for that.
